CHARACTERISTICS

SHIVAAY Polyester Pigments are compatible with all grade polyester Resin and Gelcoats.

SHIVAAY colour pastes are a blend of top quality pigment powders (inorganic and organic) finely dispersed into the monomer-free unsaturated polyester resin for maximum storage stability.

SHIVAAY Pigment provides excellent light fastness and does not discolour on exposure to sunlight with suitable UV polyester Resins and Gelcoats. Darker shades of SHIVAAY Polyester Pigments will have better outdoor durability when exposed outside. Durability of the pigment depend on environmental conditions such as Light, Heat, Moisture etc.

SHIVAAY Polyester Pigments absorbs and convert UV radiations into heat which is dissipated to the surrounding medium readily helping to prolong the outdoor life of final FRP products, such protection depend on the pigment concentration on the surface and hence Gelcoats having higher pigment loading will therefore, afford longer protection.

SHIVAAY Polyester Pigments can provide temperature resistance over 1500C to FRP moulding in SMC/DMC depending on exposure time, temperature, Oxidizing condition during processing, heat transfer coefficients & heat transfer rates, etc.

SHIVAAY Polyester Pigments have no adverse effect on dielectric strength, surface resistivity, track resistance and other insulation properties due to that polyester mouldings are used to large extent in electrical applications.

USAGE

Usage level of Pigment:

Recommended usage level of Polyester Pigment is based on the weight of moulding Resin 8-12% for Gelcoats, 8-10% for Pultrusion and SMC/DMC, 4-6% for Laminates and Filled castings, 1-5% for Translucent Sheet. Greater pigmentation level will provide better brightness, colour uniformity, colour depth and durability

USAGE

Mixing Procedure:

Small quantities of pigments can be mixed easily by hand stirring and for large quantities powder mixing is essential. Take small quantity of Resin and add weighed quantity of the Polyester Pigment into a mixing container and mix well until uniform colour is achieved. Thereafter add balance quantity of Resin and mix well to obtain homogeneous colour.

Usage of Catalyst:

Catalyst should be added to the Pigmented Resin just before actual usage.
